These powerful bursts of solar plasma and magnetic fields interacted with Earth's magnetic field, creating conditions strong enough for the aurora to be seen much farther south than usual, reaching northern Missouri."
As I walked out the door this evening in an attempt to see the northern lights, I saw what I thought was a shooting star..
I’ve seen many shooting stars throughout my life; this one was so much bigger and brighter and the tail following it was wider and longer than what I had ever seen before.
Later that evening, I looked up online and what came up was this;
"What you likely witnessed was a fireball or a bolide, which is an exceptionally bright and rare type of meteor.
These are significantly larger and more spectacular than the typical, faint shooting stars you are used to seeing."
After doing some research on what I saw as I walked out the door, I am certain that was not a shooting star.
At that moment I saw that in the sky, I felt that outing was going to be a very beautiful experience, seeing the lights. And it truly was.
